Now everyone can sleep free from the worry of fire, confident of waking when the smoke alarm sounds.

We are so proud of how SafeAwake helps people – especially those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing – wake safely when their smoke detector sounds, that we could go on for hours.  You decide how much you want to learn about the product – just the basics or more detail.

The Basics

SafeAwake works in conjunction with a standard smoke detector.  Your SafeAwake is always on, “listening” for the sound from your smoke detector.  When SafeAwake senses a standard smoke alarm, it instantly:

SafeAwake plugs into any standard electrical wall outlet and includes a battery backup providing alert protection for up to 24 hours if the power is out.  It also has a low battery warning light so you’ll know when to replace the battery.

It’s easy to install and easy to use.  It provides essential protection for those who may not hear the standard audible alert of ordinary, conventional smoke detectors. We know you’ll love it as much as we do!

More Detail

SafeAwake combines two patented technologies in responding to smoke and fire alarms, and promptly awakens sleeping occupants. The product is a small six inch by three inch patented design device that is placed at a bedside nightstand or hung on a wall adjacent to the bed.  The awakening system involves a bed shaker device that is placed under the user’s mattress. It is also equipped with a speaker that emits a high-decibel, low-frequency (500 Hz) audible signal, and a flashing indicator light that operate in concert with the bed shaker.

SafeAwake’s advantages are:

  1. Universality: It responds to any U.S. domestic or commercial smoke detector manufactured after 1996 that requires the audible signal sound to emit an intermittent pattern in a standard temporal-3 (T-3) audible format.

  2. Portability: The device can be used in any domestic or commercial sleeping room equipped with standard smoke detectors within audible range with no need for any additional new fire detection equipment or hardwiring.

  3. Simplicity: The user simply plugs into any 110-volt electrical bedside outlet and inserts the bed shaker under the mattress.

  4. Reliability: The device is equipped with a lithium ion battery system that provides back up power in the event of an electrical power failure.

In operation, SafeAwake recognizes the T-3 audible smoke alarm pattern and energizes the bed shaker, the 500 Hz audible signal, and the flashing light.  The patented T-3 bed shaker pattern has been proven to be the most reliable method in awakening sleeping occupants. SafeAwake also sounds a high-decibel, low-frequency (500 Hz) audible alarm tone in the same T-3 pattern.  This 500 Hz tone has been proven to be significantly more effective at waking those with mild to severe hearing loss when compared to the standard domestic and commercial smoke alarm audible signal which currently produces a 3000 Hz signal.  SafeAwake also simultaneously produces a flashing light in the T-3 pattern, which adds the visual benefit in awakening occupants and providing warning when the occupant is awake and not in bed.
